September 2025 High Band Contest Report & Overall Results
It was a very pleasant early Autumn Sunday for the 5th and final 5.7GHz and 10GHz Cumulative with flat band conditions. The session was universally described as busy with 4 of the 15 entrants on 10Ghz working more than 20 stations. On 5.7GHz 7 of the 8 entrants achieved more than 10 QSO's. There were very few callsign or locator related errors in the logs, and therefore only a very small number of invalid QSO's (UBN's), which is fantastic to see.
It was a really exciting and fun final session to what has been a very well supported and competitive series in 2025. Entries in some of the sessions (and therefore QSO counts) have been double and sometime triple those in 2024! Activity has been overall excellent and this makes for enjoyable, exciting days in the shack or out portable on various hilltops.
5.7GHz Results
September Event:
- 8 stations entered, same as in August, nearly triple the 3 in September 2024
- ODX was 329km, a QSO between John G8IKP/P (IO80) and Steve G1PPA/P (JO03)
- Congratulations to Steve G1PPA/P for winning, with Rob G7MHF/P in second place.
2025 Overall Contest Series
- 5.7GHz Open: Congratulations Steve G1PPA/P (JO03) for taking the top spot in the last 3 out of 5 events and winning the series, providing some very welcome Northern England DX to many folks. Well done Dave G1EHF (IO91) second overall, with David M0GHZ (IO81) third
- The longest ODX QSO across all 5 events was 329km between John G8IKP/P (IO80) and Steve G1PPA/P (JO03) worked in August and again in September.
10GHz Results
September Event
-15 entries were received, slightly down on August, nearly double the 8 in September 2024
- ODX was an impressive 424km QSO between F4VWH/P (JN29) and John G4ZTR (JO01)
- In the Open Section, G4ZTR took the winning spot, with Carl G6NLC/P runner-up
- In the Restricted section Barry G4SJH/P was victorious, followed by Pete G1DFL/P.
2025 Overall Contest Series
- 10GHz Open: Congratulations to John G4ZTR (JO01) for winning the Open section with nearly a clean sweep, triumphant in 4 out of the 5 sessions. Well done to Steve G1PPA/P (JO03) who came second overall, and Dave G4ASR (IO82) third
- 10GHz Restricted: Congratulations to Barry G4SJH/P (IO91) winning the Restricted section with top spot in 4 of the 5 sessions. Well done to Pete G1DFL/P (IO91) who came second, and David G1EHF/P (IO91) third
- 2025 Longest ODX QSO: Well done to Nick G0HIK/P (I084) and Maurice F6DKW (JN18) for achieving a massive 710km AS-assisted contact in August.
2025 Trophies & Certificates

Band Position Certificates are available to download as PDF's for all participants. Engraved Trophies will be awarded at the next Martlesham Round Table and AGM, please make every effort to attend.
2025 High Band Championship
Adding up scores tabulated across both bands, congratulations to the 2025 High Band Championship winner Steve G1PPA/P (5,372 pts), with Carl G6NLC/P (4,164 pts) second and Dave G1EHF/P (4,061 pts) third.
Well done and a big thank you to everyone who has participated and activated 5.7GHz and 10GHz over the five sessions. Thanks to all of your efforts the High Band Cumulative's in 2025 have been a lot of fun! It's encouraging to see activity and entries increase significantly in the past 12 months, making this a popular, busy and successful UKuG contest series. Looking forward to 2026!
